"Well done is better than well said." ~Ben Franklin
Welcome to NWLA Notary Services. My name is Michael Gray and I hope I can be of service to you. I have been a Civil Law Notary since 1999.
The Louisiana Notary Public, unlike notaries in the other 49 states, is a Civil Law Notary. A Louisiana Notary can draft, prepare and execute affidavits, acknowledgments, authentic acts and generally all instruments in writing. Notaries in other states can act only as "witnesses" to a person's signature.
Louisiana's Civil Law System provides for much of our legal documentation to be passed by a Notary, a public official who has qualified for a commission authorizing those powers. Non-attorney notaries must demonstrate a proficiency in legal matters within the scope of this broad power and authority by passing an examination administered by the Louisiana Secretary of State.

For those needing notary services for persons who are patients in a hospital or other facility, elderly, on medication, showing signs of Demintia or other diminished mental capacity. All too often, these persons are preyed upon by the people they least expect - relatives and immediate family members. We will use screening procedures for these signers for willingness and awareness, and keep a watchful eye for other telltale warning signs. Before a signature is notarized, the signer must be able to answer a few questions to help us determine if they are aware of their surroundings and of the document they are about to sign. If this cannot be established, the notarization will NOT be performed and you will still be required to pay for the travel/mobile fee.
